Western heat wave continues

The highest temperature in the U.S. on Sunday was 128 at Death Valley, CA.

Temperature records for Sunday
  • Death Valley, Calif. - Reached 128 degrees again, tying its all-time June record high set the previous day and on June 30, 1994.
  • Las Vegas, Nev. - Tied all-time record high of 117 degrees.  Third day in a row with 115-degree heat. Hottest ever during June
  • Lancaster, Calif. - All-time record high of 115 degrees. 
  • Bishop, Calif. - Tied June record high of 109 degrees. 
  • Needles, Calif. -  122 degrees, this is the first time on record of three straight June days of 120+ heat. 
  • Kingman, AZ - 110 degrees, this is the first time on record of three straight June days of 110+ heat.

    Phoenix had a daily record of 115. This was 4 degrees cooler than Saturday's high of 119.
