Flash Flood WATCH issued for Louisville

Flash Flood WATCH

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WATCH

* FROM 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING

* SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND
INTENSITY ACROSS EAST-CENTRAL KENTUCKY LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY
THURSDAY MORNING. SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE WILL EXPAND
WESTWARD DURING THE DAY ON THURSDAY TO MUCH OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY
AND CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY NIGHT. DUE TO THE HIGH AMOUNT OF
ATMOSPHERIC MOISTURE...THESE SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL HAVE THE
POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE TORRENTIAL RAINFALL THAT MAY LEAD TO FLASH
FLOODING ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS AND IN POOR DRAINING URBAN
AREAS. IN ADDITION...RISES ON LARGER AREA RIVERS WILL BE
POSSIBLE AS WE HEAD INTO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

* THOSE LIVING ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE
POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING. IF YOU PLAN ON HIKING OR CAMPING
DURING THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND...DO NOT MAKE YOUR CAMPSITE NEAR A
CREEK OR STREAM...NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT IS. WATER LEVELS MAY
RISE DRAMATICALLY ON AREA CREEKS AND STREAMS AS HEAVY RAINFALL
  MOVES THROUGH THE REGION.

John says..... this watch may need to be extended into Saturday.
