Heavy rain is on the way

Updated Wednesday afternoon.....

An interesting set up for the next couple of days. A plume of tropical moisture is evident on the satellite view from the eastern Gulf of Mexico to West Virginia this afternoon. Through the end of the week, as the High over the Atlantic builds west slightly, that will push the highest moisture axis to the west.

The big question is where exactly the heaviest rains will set up.

GFS rain forecast through Sat. PM

The GFS brings the heaviest rains up to near Louisville with 3 inches in the red.
The lighter red near Bowling Green is 4 inches.

NAM rain forecast

The NAM is a little further to the east with Frankfort getting 4 inches and east of Bowling Green with 5 inches.
The NAM has 1.5 to 3 for the Louisville area.

GEM rain forecast
The GEM forecast has 2 inches for Louisville with the heaviest over eastern Tennessee.

The JMA puts out over 5 inches for Louisville into the weekend.

Flood Watches in dark green
Currently all of the flood watches are to our east.

It will be interesting to see if the Weather Prediction Center moves their heavy rain forecast to the west at all. Right now they put the heaviest rain into the Lexington area.

More later today.
