Updated Monday evening.... The Iowa state record for most days in a row without a tornado is 355 days. As of today it has been 354 days since the last tornado in Iowa. The record will be set on Wednesday.
Iowa averages 35 tornadoes a year.
In these days of detailed radars and storm spotter coverage, it is highly likely any tornado would go unnoticed as compared with the 1955 when the current record was set.
