Historic frost possible tonight

Updated Sunday at 5:20 PM.....  A Frost ADVISORY has been issued for the area.
Tomorrow morning is May 13. A frost this late in the Louisville area only happens once every 25 to 50 years.
The dark blue shows the frost advisories and the light blue is for a freeze warning.

It has always been said you can plant your tomatoes after Derby Day.

Well, the gardens are planted and the flowers are blooming. I am wondering about damage to the strawberry crop among other things.

City locations will stay in the upper 30's with a record low for Louisville if it drops this low.
I can see some outlying areas dropping as low as 32 degrees.

Here is what the NWS in Louisville says.....
With good radiational cooling conditions temperatures will fall into the mid 30s across much of the area tonight. Typical colder spots may fall to near freezing, while the Louisville metro will remain on the warmer side around 40. With these conditions, areas of frost are expected to develop early tomorrow morning, especially in colder spots, and thus a Frost Advisory has been issued. Tender vegetation left uncovered may be damaged or killed. In addition, low temperatures tomorrow morning may tie or break records. Below are the record lows for tomorrow and the forecast lows.
Site Record/Year Forecast
Bowling Green 35/1895 37
Frankfort 34/1941,1938 34
Lexington 37/1996,1941, 35
Louisville 40/1997,1996 40

Here are some chilly forecasts for tonight:
Upper Peninsula of Michigan:
TONIGHT...UNSEASONABLY COOL. CLEAR. LOWS 18 TO 23. LIGHT WINDS.

Memphis:
TONIGHT...MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S IN DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS AND IN THE LOWER 40S IN OUTLYING AREAS.
Way to go NWS Memphis for giving the temperature for the city and suburbs. That's why I showed this one.

Smoky Mountains:  MOSTLY CLEAR AND BREEZY. COLDER WITH LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S.
