Special Weather Statement for heat from the Louisville NWS

Once the sky clears, the temperature will skyrocket.

Current dew points are in the lower 70's and should
stay in the 70-75 range today for a humid, mid-summerlike
day.

Special Statement from the Louisville NWS.....

...AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES NEAR 100 DEGREES...

HIGH PRESSURE RIDGING INTO THE OHIO VALLEY WILL MAKE TODAY THE
HOTTEST DAY SO FAR THIS YEAR. HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON
WILL REACH THE LOWER TO MID 90S...AND RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL
ONLY DROP TO 40 TO 50 PERCENT. THIS COMBINATION WILL RESULT IN
HEAT INDEX VALUES NEAR 100 DEGREES FOR A FEW HOURS.

NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS UNATTENDED IN A PARKED VEHICLE.
TEMPERATURES INSIDE CAN QUICKLY CLIMB WELL OVER 100 DEGREES. BEAT
THE HEAT...CHECK THE BACK SEAT!
